Pinwheels

Old Pinwheels

A week or so ago I briefly posted, and unpublished, a list of things about me you could live without knowing. One of them is that I like pinwheels.

Most summers, I buy a new one for my deck container garden. The type that last the longest are the inexpensive shiney ones. The colors of those fade before the summer is over. The hard plastic pinwheels, big and small, either tore or flew off the stick.

Why do I like them? They have energy, move, are interesting to watch, and are fun. I've liked them all my life. One day I will make one from scratch, paint it, and enjoy seeing it spin in the wind.

Are you a pinwheel fan?
Have you ever made one?

I do like them and have a pretty patriotic one. But I don't remember ever making one! We need some straws and shiny paper I think!

Yes, I love pinwheels! They are so fun to watch blowing in the wind, especially when they aren't loud and just spin around. I like yours with the patriotic colors. It's funny how we remember things from childhood that we still enjoy when we are adults. I'd love to see the handmade one you create someday. ; )

We used to make them as kids, but mine didn't twirl very well. I didn't quite get the engineering to work.

My Indian neighbors love them, stick them in all over. They claim it's for kids, but I think the adults like them too.

Yes I do like pinwheels and anything else that moves gracefully.

Diane,
I remember now, we did make them in grade school. Nice memory

Sheri,
Old spiral plastic notebook cover is just the right weight and size for wheels. :)

Liz,
I like to think plants like the energy pinwheels create. In some cases, they might keep bugs from eating the leaves.
I have to carefully use a diagram to put one together.

Loree,
Gracefully, the wind spinner tails are lovely hung from trees. They are easier to make than pinwheels.

I know I made pinwheels with our boys when they were small and them running around the backyard with them. Haven't had any since and now I'm craving a nice shiny one. Hmmm....dollar store trip......

Marie,
Lol. Pinwheels are fun to make.

Maryanne,
The Dollar store here usually has a variety of pinwheels. County fairs as well.

I don't recall having any around growing up.

William,
Buy one, put it in a plant (away from leavrs), and turn on a fan low. They spin a feeling of well being.

I've never made one or maybe even bought one (or maybe I have) but I do love them! I like the idea of making one!

Wow, no pinwheels in your life. It is strange to realize we don't all have the same experiences. I think a pinwheel would be nice to have around. :)
