Hello to an Autumn Blog Banner

Changing the blog banner/header* with the season can be interesting. The above photograph looks ideal. It might be if it were for the many trees that dropped their leaves already. In editing the light, the bare branches show up as spots of gray dust. I've cropped the original  photo in a few places with the same dusty results. This autumn, taking a photograph earlier can be tricky because trees aren't a chorus line kicking up color foliage at the same time. The solution is to find a group of trees in all their autumn magnificence.

The first day of autumn is this Thursday, 22 September 2016. The autumn photography outing for me this year will follow last year's locations. The plan is to start earlier, and keep better watch as to when the Canada and Snow Goose flocks arrive at the Dead Creek Wildlife Refuge in Panton for their fall layover. I haven't heard any big flocks flying over as yet, but checking the area is the only way to know for sure.

*The present banner above is from a 2004 photograph, Walden Pond not far from Thoreau's cabin site.  I grew up in the area, and through family history have a special bond with Thoreau.

    1. Hi Quinn,
Thank you. I have the feeling this year timing is going to be needed. I fear with this summer's heavy rains and then intense heat, foliage will be spotty or else disappear with rain and wind.
      Happy Autumn!

    1. Hi Pat,
Your painting of the Boudicca statue from your night cruise on the Thames is lovely.
      Happy Autumn!
