Canada Goose Spring Migration

Canada Goose Formation 9 March 2016 Vergennes, Vermont Mid Day
The honking can be heard before the birds appear. It took me a few seconds for the familiar sound to register so I could get out the camera. Irfanview photo edit Auto Adjust Color setting results are the hues of the picture. Sometimes the setting results are too harsh, but in this case, methinks the blues blend well with the clouds.
The Canada geese are heading west towards Lake Champlain. The Dead Creek Wildlife Refuge, a known stop over, is in a southerly (photo left) direction from their path.
Spring is ten days away on the 1oth of March 2016!

Update...11 March 2016
Silhouettes indicate there are Canada Geese at Dead Creek that are far from the viewing area along Route 17. I saw a the very few flying in the back closer to the distant tree line where I believe there's a field pond.

  1. Beautiful photograph. You did so well to capture this. My bird photos are often taken just after the bird has flown.

    1. Hi Helen,
      I loved you vacation photographs!
One of the three pictures of the geese has almost five geese in the very bottom edge of the frame, and the third photo is all sky. :)

  3. Lovely photo-it has painterly effects-very pretty. We hear lots of honking around here, being in the Finger Lakes. My own geese never bother to honk back-they used to-but there's so many geese around, I guess they got tired of honking!

    1. Hi Debra,
Thank you. A few people the other day mentioned they've also seen geese flying recently. Early spring would be nice as in no more snow storms except in the mountains where it belongs. :)
      Have an Adventurous Week-end!

  4. Just gorgeous photo. This would certainly make a lovely painting if you were so inspired. The geese have been honking here too. Love to see them.

  5. I always love to hear geese honking as they fly overhead, although it's not something that we hear often in London. It is quite common in Suffolk where I like to go when I can. There is in fact a large bird reserve there. I liked your photos.
