Robins Flocking

Two Robins Chatting, digital photo, Maywyn 2015

Last year I learned that robins flock together in the spring to settle up their community structure for all things nesting related. The other day birds were not only chirping everywhere, they were flying all over the place. Evidently, robins like this small area for their late winter early spring gathering. I am grateful they've chosen a place where I can walk and take pictures.

What signs of Spring are you seeing?

  1. Well, I saw my first scorpion a few weeks ago, and then it turned cold again...cold for scorpions, at least. I wish I had your robins to eat them! Happy Wednesday, May!

    1. Oops. My reply to you, Tanya, is below. Sorry.
I missed the button, and didn't pay attention to where I was typing. I'm watching "The Talk" interview actors from "CSI: Cyber," that premiers tonight.

  2. We do have a few hardy robins that live here all winter, but so far I've not seen the returning ones. I hear a different song from the winter birds though, and I think they sense the light changing. Today we have 40 degrees, which is a wonderful change!

    1. Hi Debra,
Yes, bird songs don't sound like winter now. The chickadees are missing here.
Temperature is also warmer. Snow is melting as I type.

  4. You know, we've had Robins too, in droves. They come in the spring and eat the Holly berries-- which is strange this year as it's so much snow around and they are here. Hope!!! love to you,Diana

  5. Maywin-I wanted to answer your question at my drawing blog-yes, I have been on Spoonflower and even ordered some of my designs on fabric-but only my logo and business name. It's a great idea to do some of my folk art and order some fabric. Thank you for reminding me of it!!! Is your deer shirt done?

    1. Hi Debra,
I'll look for your fabrics on Spoonflower. I'd plan to go back to voting on their weekly contests.
Deer shirt...Yesterday I found a gray top with paint and bleach stains on the front the deer silhouette will cover. I hope to begin sewing this week-end. Thank you for asking

  6. Maywin-my designs aren't public there-they are surely not anything anyone would want-I just did them so I could make my own tags for my handbags and other fabric things I make. It was way cheaper than ordering tags, and they turned out really well. I do love that site-it's fun just to play at. Make sure you show us your finished shirt!!!

    1. Hi Debra,
Using your own artwork for tags and such is a fantastic idea.
I hope to finish the shirt to post on Saturday.
