Balsam

The majority of balsam this year is growing from seed in place. All the shades of pink with one each of lavender, white and crayon purple are present. Alas, no salmon color this year.

  1. Dear Maywyn -are impatiens from the same family as balsam? I have never grown it but think yours looks so lovely. Isn't it fun when there are surprises in the garden (LOL) - especially if they are not weeds! Have a great day. Thanks too for stopping by to visit - goldenrod doesn't make me sneeze but there are other things blooming that do!

  2. Yes, Debbie, the impatien and balsam flowers are in the same family. The balsam pictured is like some of the types sold in seed packets. They have the same kind of seed pods that pop open when the seeds are ripe, dark colored.

    1. Hi Dee,
It is fun, especially when the palest pink white shows up.
